Reflecting on 2016

Holy cow, you guys. 2016 was a whirlwind. I made some mistakes, learned a lot, lost my mom, traveled, started a new job, and did a million things in between.

It was a hard year.

As I look back at my post at the beginning of the year Making 2016 Great I realize how much I’ve changed in the last year.

My first goal? Create More.

How’d I do? Well, I did revamp my blog entirely, and publish a bunch of blog posts, but I did slack on my Youtube Channel.

In all fairness, making videos takes a lot more time and effort than blogging, and with the amount of crazy bull I had going on this summer, I simply couldn’t keep up.

But, here are some of my favorite creations from this year:

My second goal for the year?

Explore More.

How’d I do? Check.

In 2016, I moved from San Antonio to Ohio, explored NYC, Minneapolis, Des Moines, Buffalo, Toledo and Cleveland. I’d like to add a lot more cities to that list in 2017, but I think I’m off to a good start.

Here’s a gut-wrenching goal: Laugh More.

Something mom always did. I didn’t make this goal as I would have liked. Mom’s passing made it really hard to stay positive, and I think I’m still recovering from everything.

My last goal?

Create Better Work.

Whoa, way to set a vague standard for myself that I can’t measure. I’d like to say I did create better work this year than last year, but who’s to judge? I just keep practicing and creating stuff I like; and that is all I can do.

As I go into 2017

I’m setting some new goals for myself. And they are all measurable goals that I’m hoping I can look back on in a year and determine how I did.

  1. Travel Internationally (to anywhere)
  2. Post at least 24 articles on my blog.
  3. Post at least 30 youtube videos.
  4. Learn two new skills.

Simple? Yeah, I think so. What are your goals for 2017? Leave a comment below!
